Alaska-filmed ‘Everybody Loves Whales’ redubbed ‘Big Miracle’

Friday, September 16th, 2011

Alaskans involved in the production of the big-budget studio film “Everybody Loves Whales” — or maybe just those startled to see Drew Barrymore in an Anchorage coffee shop — shouldn’t look for a movie under that title to see their name in the credits. The movie, which stars Barrymore and John Krasinski and revolves around the real-life story of the rescue of three gray whales trapped by sea ice in the Arctic Ocean, has been retitled “Big Miracle,” according to a post from the Alaska Film Office’s Facebook page. The film will likely see some popularity in the 49th State after the cause celebre surrounding the project’s $30 million budget and use of Alaska locales. The movie is slated to release on Feb. 3, 2012, so any Alaskans wondering if they’re house shows up in the background can check it out then.

Kristen Bell to Romance Michael Rady and Nick Stahl on Showtime’s “House of Lies”

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Kristen Bell’s dance card on House of Lies is officially pretty damn full.

The new Showtime comedy has cast Melrose Place‘s Michael Rady and Carnivàle‘s Nick Stahl as love interests for Bell’s corporate consultant character, Jeannie, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Rady will play the recurring role of Wes, a moneyed golden boy who may be a bit too conservative for Jeannie. Stahl, meanwhile, will guest star in one episode as Kurt, a musician who makes Jeannie question what she wants out of life and love (my guess: no-strings sex with a hot musician).

Lies, based on Martin Kihn’s hit tell-all book How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time, revolves around dueling corporate management consulting firms. The cast also includes Don Cheadle, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Dawn Olivieri and Glynn Turman.

Kristen Bell Tells Us: I Don’t Want a Wedding Ceremony

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Kristen Bell is the furthest thing from a bridezilla.

The Scream 4 actress, who’s currently engaged to Dax Shepard, told Us Weekly she’s not planning to walk down the aisle — ever.

“We’re just not having a wedding, so there’s no story to report there,” she announced at the FriendFactor benefit in NYC on Tuesday. “I mean, we’re still getting married, but we’re going to do it whenever we feel like it.”

“The fact that he asked me to marry him is of a little more importance than me planning a party,” she added.

Wedding ceremony or not, Bell — who recently filmed a pilot for Showtime’s House of Lies — told Us that things have never been better with the Parenthood actor, 36.

“He constantly keeps me laughing: when I’m sad, mad, frustrated, annoyed. Regardless of what it is he can lighten the mood. He’ll do anything that the mood requires,” she gushed. “I can’t get frustrated and that is a very powerful weapon. Comedy is a very powerful weapon. He’s so funny that it’s overwhelming.”

“I really don’t have bad days, you know what I mean?” Bell, 30, continued. “Even if it’s me being frustrated, he’ll make a joke about me and it’ll be so genuinely funny that I have to laugh.”
